Timely industry tradition continues at Wire Association headquarters

Severstal unit acquires Italian wire rope manufacturer
Severstal Metiz Group, part of Russian-based Severstal, has acquired Redaelli Tecna, an Italian-based wire rope producer. Click here for more.


Molex unit acquires majority share in Turkish cablemaker

U.S.-based Molex Incorporated announced through its Premise Networks business unit, that it has become a substantial share holder in HCS, a Turkish manufacturer. Click here for more.

Wireco WorldGroup invests in capacity expansion
U.S.-based Wireco World Group reports that it has bought a multi-million dollar Cabmach
planetary strander as part of its plans to greatly expand wire rope capacity by the summer of 2009. Click here for more.

Nexans delivers on baggage handling contract
Nexans reports that it has supplied over 2,500 km of power and control cables for a total value contract of around 2.6 million euros. The cables play a vital role in the operation of the state-of-the-art baggage handling system in the new Terminal 3 at Beijing International Airport, China, it said.


Seth Yeong Thin Chew has joined Malaysia-Belden as a sales representative for Malaysia, responsible for the Belden Industrial Cable and AV/Broadcast vertical market in the country.

Sunil Bhaskaran has been promoted to Executive–In-Charge (Global Wires), a new position for India's Tata Steel that will be responsible for developing the company's global wire businesses, which include: Wires Division, India; The Siam Industrial Wire Co. Ltd., Thailand; Wuxi Jinyang Metal Products Co. Ltd. China; and Lanka Special Steel Limited, Sri Lanka.

Nick Szczechowski recently joined Wheelabrator Plus as an account manager for Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. Wheelabrator Plus is a division of Wheelabrator Group.

Industrial Steel and Wire Co., has hired Robert J. (Bob) Kerr as District Sales Manager, South East, responsible for sales from their Charlotte warehouse.

Alloy Polymers, Inc., has appointed Charles M. Chiappone as the company’s CEO as part of its ongoing succession planning process. Chiappone will retain his title of president.
